Alumni Spotlight

Dr. Ashton Lee - Valedictorian Class of 2012

Ashton spent all of her educational years at Tabernacle Christian School. Even during her earliest years she stood out as an exceptional student. In the fifth grade she wrote a poem entitled “Christianity” which was published in A Celebration of Young Poets, a publication commemorating the accomplishments of talented young authors.

Matt Smith - Class of 2003

Matt Smith came to Tabernacle when he was just 5 years old, but before graduating in 2003, he was an extremely involved, well-rounded student. Academically, he was a member of the Beta club, but fellow students best knew him for his athletic ability. He was extremely talented in soccer, making several 1st tournament teams and eventually making 1st team all-state his senior year. However, basketball was definitely his passion.

Tim Griffin - Class of 1991

After graduating from Tabernacle Christian School in 1991, Tim Griffin attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where he majored in Aviation and played on the college’s basketball team. He transferred to LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, in 1993. Majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology with Aviation Technology, he graduated in 1998 as an engineer with an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic's License.

Trent Linville - Salutatorian Class of 2012

What a difference Trent Linville made this past year at our Christian school! Trent transferred to Tabernacle for his senior year. He had attended public schools his entire life where he worked hard and achieved many honors. Even in elementary school he achieved several awards for academic excellence and a writing award. During middle school he ranked in the top ten of his class and was a member of the Junior Beta Club. He also had the privilege of participating in the Piedmont Middle daily broadcast.

Ken Harbin - Class of 1985

In 1982 Ken Harbin enrolled in the tenth grade at Tabernacle Christian School. He spent most of his high school years at TCS and graduated in 1985. He was the Student Body President his senior year. He was a starting forward on the undefeated 1985 NCCSA State Champion basketball team, a record that has yet to be broken.

Lauren (Hyatt) Yanik - Class of 2005

After graduating from TCS near the top of her class in 2005, Lauren enrolled at South Piedmont Community College from which she earned an associate degree in nursing in 2008. Lauren, who made Dean’s list during her entire time at SPCC, quickly found a job working as a registered nurse at CMC-Union on a medical-surgical unit. While in this position she worked as a floor nurse, charge nurse, and preceptor for both new nurses to the unit and new graduate nurses. She was also chair of CMC’s unit based council from 2009-2010 and was the unit’s representation for the Nursing Education and Professional Development Committee.
